I've been meaning to post.
I have been meaning, dear reader, to make a post for a while now.
I have one in my drafts. One that is long and meandering as these posts have become. One that attempts to be informative, but falls off just as I get to a point that is hard to define. And then I blame Substack for hitting my post length. The problem being, now, that I have waited too long and feel as if I need to give you a life update as opposed to an informative post. (I will make an informative writing next, I promise).
I have moved, offically, to Philadelphia, PA. Some seven hundred fifty miles from Savannah, GA. I am really loving it. It took waaaaaay to long to recevie my desk and things, due to issues with the moving/storage company, but it’s here now and I have been slowly getting my new space together.
I started Subsitute teaching a 4th grade math class and that small gig became long-term. I became emergency certified and possibly riding out the rest of the year with them. A path that I did not forsee, but has given me joy and consitancy in the move. I had my first snow day! Three, in fact. My first snow storm and learned to drive my tiny car again. I did a lot of reading and a lot of painting. Just about finished the Mark Twain bio by Ron Chernow. And a little over half way through The Once and Future King by T.H. White. It’s been that and a lot of O.G. Plastic Man before I go to bed.
Comics work has all but stopped. Because I have been getting things and commissions together for OAX (Original Art Expo) in Orlando, Fl at the end of the month. There have been so many commissions I have needed to do I haven’t really had time to draw the comics for Spakow! #5. However, I cannot express my graditute to the people who have commissioned me so far. You have helped in so many aspects of my life recently and provided a little bit of a cusion in this big transition. If you are coming to the show I am very excited to see you, look at cool art with you, and talk and have a drink and talk.
I have been writing a lot though. A lot of the stories that will come out in future SPAKOWs are fully ready to go. Just need to sit down and draw. I have also started writing new Baboon Dailies and more Bindle Bartleby. The move has really changed the way I am working. And I think it’s all for the better.
Spoiler alert
here’s a look at the script I have written for myself for the first 20 strips of The Baboon Dailies. spelling errors, disjointed thoughts and all!
I suppose I’ll end it here with a bunch of paintings I have finished up for OAX in a couple of weeks. And I will get a post that actually is informative to you next week.

Good luck at OAX
So happy to hear the move has gone well for you and things are getting back to a place of normalcy! The OAX comissions are looking absolutely fantastic! Cannot wait for the show and to see you there!
